The UNLV Rebels is an umbrella term for the teams, but it is important to note that some of the teams use different variations of the name for the respective sports. The men’s basketball team, for instance, is popularly referred to as the Runnin’ Rebels.
The Runnin’ Rebel’s men’s basketball team is probably the most popular of all the teams at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas. The team, which plays at the iconic Thomas & Mack Center, is a must-watch for sports lovers visiting Las Vegas.
The Lady Rebels is the name given to the women’s basketball team. The team’s home games are held at the 2,500-capacity Cox Pavilion on-site at the UNLV Campus. This is a state-of-the-art facility that is linked to the Thomas & Mack Center and makes for a perfect venue.
The baseball team, on the other hand, is usually referred to as the Hustlin’ Rebels. The Hustlin’ Rebels are known to host their games at the 3,000-capacity Earl E. Wilson Stadium at the UNLV Campus. Famous Hustlin’ Rebels who have put the institution on the map include Ryan Ludwick, Matt Williams, and Marty Cordova, among others.
The UNLV Rebels also boasts a men’s and women’s golf team with the home course at the premier Southern Highlands Golf Club. Other popular sports within the intercollegiate teams include soccer, softball, swimming, diving, as well as tennis.
Look out for the UNLV Cheerleaders too. These cheerleaders add pomp and color to the football and basketball games at their respective venues.
