Las Vegas Wildlife

Las Vegas is easily one the entertainment capitals of the world, but what many may not be aware of, is that the city is also home to numerous wildlife attractions.

These attractions also double up as family-friendly attractions, making them idyllic options to tour with the kids.

Las Vegas Wildlife Parks, Animal Attractions, Refuges & Sanctuaries, NV

Take the first adventure at the Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay. This aquarium contains more than 1.6 million gallons of saltwater and is home to 15 shark species in addition to golden crocodiles, sea turtles, and giant rays, among others. Visitors get to visit the different exhibits to learn more about marine wildlife in their different habitats and how they interact.

Visit the Flamingo Wildlife Habitat, which, just as the name suggests, is home to flamingos. While the flock of Chilean flamingos have earned the habitat its name, they coexist alongside African penguins at the Flamingo Hotel Las Vegas. With free entry at the habitat, there is no excuse not to explore the hotel.

Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat located at the Mirage Hotel Las Vegas is a unique wildlife attraction. Home to several Atlantic bottlenose dolphins, the research-based facility is loved for its exciting dolphin shows. The habitat also has different animal breeds, including leopards, panthers, white tigers, and white lions.

The MGM Grand Lion Habitat is a popular wildlife attraction in Las Vegas as it gives visitors a glimpse into the lives that the giant cats lead. See them feed, play, and sleep all in one location. Visitors are also enthralled to watch how the lions relate to the keepers. Perhaps the highlight of this tour is the transparent tunnel that allows one to access the habitat in a safe environment.

Tour the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and come face to face with the diverse fauna in the area. From rabbits to ground squirrels, the desert tortoise, and even wild burros, this makes for an exciting wild experience.

Additional wildlife attractions worth visiting include the Silverton Aquarium, Springs Preserve, the Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary, as well as the Ash Meadows Wildlife Refuge.
