The Art of Richard MacDonald

The Art of Richard MacDonald is an installation presented by Cirque Du Soleil and are some of Las Vegas’ most iconic works of art.

The marvelous artworks are the brainchild of world-famous artist Richard MacDonald who is renowned for bringing his bronze statues to life at the Bellagio.

Richard MacDonald’s art is part of the neo-figurative movement as inspired by the Cirque Du Soleil, and it is easy to see why his art is celebrated all over the world. There is perhaps, no more an evocative subject, that the inspiration that the Cirque performers bring on board.

MacDonald uses the performers, who range from dancers to acrobats to body contortionists, to capture the core of their movements. Looking at The Art of Richard MacDonald, it is simply amazing to understand how MacDonald creates such rich expressions.

The art installation features more than 50 sculptures made of bronze and displayed at the ‘O’ Theatre. It is fascinating to learn that some of the sculptures took as much as eight years to complete. A closer glance at the sculptures reveals why this is so.

If you look closely, you’ll notice that most of MacDonald’s works are set at unique angles that will have you tilting your head to appreciate the full scale of the art. This thought-provoking installation not only captures the timeless beauty of the human form, but it is also a permanent display of characters in their element in the theatre of life.

The Art of Richard MacDonald can be viewed between 10am and 11pm on Monday and Tuesday and until 1am during the rest of the week. Entry is free for all.
