A perfect break from the 24-7 action on the iconic Las Vegas Strip, this 180-acre attraction is a land of contrasts, perhaps because it is hard to imagine how natural springs can abound in the dry desert landscape. The preserve has a rich cultural heritage, and its historical significance cannot be underestimated.

Springs Preserve is home to numerous galleries, modern exhibits, animal shows, and botanical gardens. The Nevada State Museum is also located on-site at the preserve. As the name suggests, the museum showcases the history of the state and how it complements the way of life in the desert. It is also interesting to note that the museum also has unique displays that reflect the process of nuclear testing, in addition to the life of those who controlled the Strip.

A visit to the museum may last as short as 15 minutes, and some have toured the expansive 70,000 square foot building for almost 10 hours! Keep your eyes peeled to view the permanent fixtures at the galleries, as well as the rotating exhibits, which change regularly throughout the year. Other facilities at the museum include a research library, lecture rooms, a banquet hall, as well as a gift shop. Admission to the museum is included in entry fees for the Springs Preserve.

Take some time to visit the Desert Living Centre, which is a building complex that showcases the importance of recycling, conserving the environment, and the use of alternative energy. This center has a model home that shows how to save energy and money while maintaining the aesthetics of the home.

The botanical gardens and hiking trails are perfectly suited for nature lovers in need of an exciting experience in the outdoors. The trails lead up to a desert wetland that is home to great biodiversity.

All in all, Springs Preserve is a wonderful place to spend the day.
