Also known as Prescott Animal Park Association, the sanctuary provides an excellent opportunity for visitors to learn more about the environment and the importance of conserving animals. A visit to the sanctuary offers a unique opportunity to get up-close with the animals across the ten-acre property. This is made possible by the natural enclosures designed to allow for close-up interaction with the animals.

Some of the most interesting exhibits include the Wallaby Walk, the Kiwanis Korner Animal Encounter, as well as the Tarantula Grotto. The Wallaby Walk is open between 10:30am and 3pm, and gives visitors a glimpse of the lives that the marsupials lead.

The Tarantula Grotto is the perfect place to learn more about invertebrates. Found in every continent except for Antarctica, these unique species can live up to 30 years of age. Other invertebrates include the Emperor Scorpion and Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches.

Explore the bird section and learn more about the different birds. From the vibrantly colored Blue and Gold Macaw to the Great horned owl, the Turkey Vulture, and the Raven, there is no better way to appreciate the diversity of the birds that the sanctuary houses.

The Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary also rescues both small and large mammals. Small mammals include the common coyote, the bobcat, the raccoon, and the Ring-tailed Lemurs.

The Common Marmoset stands out in the sanctuary, because not only is it the smallest among the monkey species, its young ones can often be spotted on the father’s back. Large mammals at the sanctuary include the endangered Bengal Tiger, the black bear, the mountain lion, as well as the clouded leopard – a rare and elusive species.

For animal lovers looking to get the most of the experience, photography tours are available. Some of the amenities at Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary include a children’s playground, a picnic area, as well as a gift shop.
