Havasu Falls

The Havasu Falls are a desert oasis that makes up one of the most scenic sights of the Havasu Canyon.

Tucked away in the desert landscape, the falls’ turquoise water and gushing force against the steep canyons create a tranquil spot for sightseers and nature-lovers.

The Havasu Falls are located in the southern part of the Grand Canyon National Park and make up a part of the Havasupai Indian reservation. The hike to the falls begins at the Hualapai Hilltop, which is a four-hour drive from the Grand Canyon Village. Day hiking is not permitted, so visitors are required to make a booking in advance to access the reservation area and access the waterfalls. The cost varies depending on the number of days camping.

With the paperwork in check, the walk to the falls begins. To get to the falls, visitors take a 10-mile hike whose trail begins at the Hilltop. This starting point has basic amenities that include ample parking space and a couple of portable buildings. It is advisable to carry your own supplies, so make sure to make a stop at Peach Springs before you arrive to access a wider array of facilities and amenities.

The trail to the falls is rugged, and it is wise to wear sturdy hiking boots for this trip. Through switchbacks and narrow canyons, hikers get to experience the natural beauty of the cliffs. The trail leads to the village, and as you draw near, the sight of the creek comes in view. Following the route downstream leads to the falls.

The beautiful water paradise is the reward for hikers who enjoy the natural outdoors. The world-renowned Havasu Falls are loved for their bright blue-green color. This natural phenomenon is made possible by the presence of natural Magnesium and Calcium Carbonate deposits in the water.

Popular activities at the Havasu Falls include swimming, photography, and camping. After visiting the falls, make time to stop by a Supai Village to get souvenirs and memorabilia for the unforgettable hiking experience.
