Grand Canyon Skywalk

The Grand Canyon Skywalk is a cantilever bridge built with a glass walkway, and one of the best viewing points of the Grand Canyon National Park.

The bridge is 10 feet wide and takes the shape of a horseshoe. It extends 70 feet over the edge of the Canyon, which is an unparalleled work of engineering that overlooks one of the world’s most remarkable natural wonders.

In days gone by, the best way to appreciate the sheer beauty of this natural wonder was to stand precariously on its edges – a feat that many visitors would not dare take, and should not take. All this changed in 2007 with the opening of the Skywalk at Eagle Point.

For visitors afraid of taking the glass walkway, it is comforting to note that the bridge can withstand winds of more than 90 miles per hour and can take the weight of 70 Boeing 747 passenger jets! The Skywalk, which is accessible using Eagle Point Road, is open daily between 7:30am and 4:30pm.

While the Grand Canyon Skywalk is the highlight of the tour, there are lots of activities to engage in at Eagle Point itself. Interestingly, the point earned its name from one of the iconic natural rock formations whose structure resembles that of an eagle.

One of the most indulgent activities you can engage in is dining at the Grand Canyon. This is a fantastic dining experience that combines the best of the Canyon’s remarkable views with delicious Southwest and Asian cuisine. If you have an adventurous palate, make sure you try out the Hualapai tribal dishes. With floor-to-ceiling windows, your dining will be complemented by some of the best views ever seen.

Take this opportunity to explore the Native American Gift Shop on location. It is perfect for getting souvenirs and memorabilia, ranging from hats to intricate jewelry and weavings made by the Mojave, Hopi, and Hualapai tribes.

The Grand Canyon Skywalk certainly is a magical experience!
