Previously known as Exotic World, the museum was initially located on an ancient goat farm in California before it was transferred to its current location. Presently, the museum pays tribute to the different forms of burlesque, ranging from dance to theatre to comedy and music.
Visitors to the Burlesque Hall of Fame will have a greater appreciation for the different phases of burlesque, from its heydays to the modern-day revival that has changed the world. The best part about the tour is the timeline of events across the years that give visitors a chance to walk back in time and marvel at the costumes on display.
Pass by the ‘Peek a View,’ which is a unique master kiosk from where you can enjoy photos collected from the early days. This best captures Jennie Lee’s vision to create a place where burlesque art would be preserved and celebrated. Jennie, a celebrated burlesque dancer herself, was the brain behind the development of Burlesque Hall of Fame, and even though she died before her vision came to pass, her dreams were kept alive by Dixie Evans, her close friend.
Pass by the gift shop and purchase any of the fascinating burlesque pieces. From coffee mugs to apparel, magnets, and playing cards, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Burlesque Hall of Fame is closed on Mondays but is open between 10am to 6pm from Tuesday to Saturday, and 12pm to 4pm on Sundays.
