Bright Angel Point

Bright Angel Point is one of the most popular viewpoints located on the North Rim of the iconic Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona.

The viewpoint is loved for its stunning views, and for hikers, this presents another adventure to explore America’s Wild West.

Bright Angel Point, Hike Trail Length & Map, North Rim Grand Canyon

The Bright Angel Point Trail leads visitors up to the viewpoint and starts immediately after the Grand Canyon Lodge. There is ample parking at the North Rim parking area, and the area itself offers marvelous views of the canyon to the east.

The trail is paved, but there are some steep sections for which visitors must exercise caution. For this reason, hiking to the viewpoint may not be ideal for families with small kids as the steep areas are not suitable for strollers.

The trail is patrolled by park rangers who are also at hand to provide insightful information about Bright Angel Point as well as answer any questions that visitors may have. The trail is well marked, and the signage provides clear directions. At the end of the trail, visitors are welcomed by sweeping views of the Grand Canyon.

A closer look directly across the canyon reveals tiny patches on the seemingly seamless canyon wall. These structures make up the hotels at the Grand Canyon Village. Further down, you should also be able to see the expansive Phantom Ranch and the Colorado River that winds down the canyon. To the West, Bright Angel Point overlooks The Transept Gorge, yet another popular attraction on the North Rim.

One of the advantages of hiking to Bright Angel Point is that it is less crowded, and it provides breathtaking views of the Grand Canyon. However, you should avoid the trail during the wet season as it is common for exposed sections of the rim to get struck by lightning. It is also advisable to carry enough water as there are no water facilities provided on the way to the viewpoint.

Accommodation is available at the Grand Canyon Lodge. For guests who book a stay at the lodge, hiking to the Bright Angel Point makes for a perfect afternoon adventure.
