The construction of the Hoover Dam led to the town’s re-emergence. Today, the charming town is a popular destination thanks to its strategic location. As such, it is the perfect gateway to idyllic destinations, most notably Lake Mojave, as well as the Lake Mead Recreational Area.
The main route that leads to Lake Mojave is Cottonwood Cove. This cove is popular for two reasons: it is home to high populations of the largemouth bass and is an amazing spot to cliff jump. For anglers, this little gem is one of the town’s best-kept secrets.
There is no better way to enjoy an adventure in Searchlight, than with an adrenaline-packed jump off the cliff. On a sunny day, many visitors are amazed by the sheer clarity of the waters below. In some parts of the lake, you can see as far as 40 feet below the water’s surface.
For those who would like to take the adventure a notch higher, nothing compares to renting one of the houseboats. A houseboat is a memorable way to enjoy your vacation while experiencing the best of the lake’s attractions.
In addition to the houseboats, Searchlight has great accommodation options. These include the Hotel Corridor on Laughlin Riverwalk and the Primm Valley Casino Resort in nearby Primm. Hickory Pit Steakhouse offers an amazing variety of foods, including steaks, seafood, and fish, among others. The steakhouse opens from 4pm daily, with the option of making a reservation.
